A Commitment to Change
Making a career change can be challenging, and completing the programs we offer can be tough. Classwork and homework are time-consuming, and issues such as childcare and transportation can be frustrating. Our success depends on your commitment to follow through with the services we provide. Some services also carry eligibility requirements, such as income, military status, or receipt of governmental aid.
Job Readiness
Employers consistently remind us that they are looking for more than job skills and experience when hiring new employees. Employers are looking for people who understand how to operate in the workplace. The WIB has a special training series for all clients called “Passport to Employment”. This training covers a wide variety of topics, including the skills, behaviors and attitudes that will contribute to an employee’s success in the workplace. These classes include special training on how to select the right career for you, and successful interview techniques.
Retention
Once employed, WIB clients receive support from a dedicated Employability Specialist who assists with job retention issues. The goal of the Retention program is to help clients establish a solid foundation upon which to build long-term success on the job. The Employability Specialist assists clients with any job related challenges they may encounter and works with clients to identify and pursue career advancement opportunities.
